THE BRIDGE - BOILERHOUSE (
‘The bridge was my favourite place. It connected me to you.’
Hailed as “the first major Scottish contribution to the growing international genre of truly spectacular outdoor performance”, Edinburgh-based performance company Boilerhouse stages the premiere of its latest production, The Bridge, in stunning historic surroundings at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Next month, they’re off to
When war breaks out, two women struggle to preserve their lifelong friendship.
As they fight to survive, a devastating twist of fate tests their alliance to its limit.
An unforgettable piece of total theatre, The Bridge unfolds high above the audience’s heads and on towering structures, against the backdrop of giant live film projections and the night sky, accompanied by an original musical score. With two world-class aerialists performing the main roles, and an integral chorus portraying the people of the city, it is a dark and moving drama, exploring the universal story of conflict and the inevitable accompanying human struggle.
According to Boilerhouse’s Artistic Director, Paul Pinson, “The Bridge builds on our experience of outdoor film work, aerial choreography and pyrotechnics - we want to offer audiences a breathtaking theatrical experience.”
