Scotland’s Artists’ Town for August 2004.
The exhibition was opened by Lord MacFarlane of Bearsden on 31st July and this is the only showing of the exhibition in Scotland.
Member for Kirkcudbright and Bengairn, Councillor Jane Maitland commented:
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Kirkcudbright and reinforces the town’s status as Artists’ Town. This first class exhibition, which inaugurated Scotland’s Entente Cordiale celebrations in April at the Bismarck Foundation in Paris, is now available for everyone in Scotland to enjoy. The exhibition follows on from the highly successful Kirkcudbright Pont-Aven exhibition, which took place earlier in the year, and confirms the town’s commitment to raising awareness of Scotland and Dumfries and Galloway in France and further afield. We are very grateful to the Hunterian Art Gallery and The Fleming Collection, as well as Entente Cordiale Scotland, for enabling this event to happen.”
The exhibition is supported by Entente Cordiale Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Council, the Kirkcudbright Forum and the work of numerous individuals.
