We play a prominent role in delivering a confident and cultured Scotland where the arts are valued by, and available to, all. The Scottish Arts Council offers a unique national perspective, specialist knowledge and experience in the provision and management of the arts which aims to balance the needs of all arts sectors and all communities in Scotland.
The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. We build mutually beneficial relationships between people in the UK and other countries and increase appreciation of the UK’s creative ideas and achievements. We have offices in 110 countries worldwide, and in all four countries of the UK. We have worked both in France and in Scotland for over fifty years and we are delighted that the centenary of the Entente Cordiale has created this opportunity to celebrate the vitality of Franco-Scottish cultural relations.

We are also very grateful to our sponsor, BT Syntegra, without whose support this programme would not have been possible.
Syntegra was invited to join the programme because it has significant operations in both Scotland and France. In Scotland, Syntegra has played a leading role in the way that many public services are delivered, from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland and Registers of Scotland, to the Scottish Criminal Record Office. It also has a particularly strong relationship with the City of Edinburgh Council, where it is working to change the way that public services are delivered in the city. In France, Syntegra has a growing presence and counts Plantin, Moët et Chandon, Visa and Caisse Nationnale des Caisses d’Epargne among its clients.
Nicholas Sautier, head of strategic marketing, Syntegra France, said: “The events being held to honour the signing of the Entente Cordiale will be the perfect opportunity for Syntegra to practise what it preaches and bring together employees, clients and partners from both France and the UK to celebrate the bond between our two countries”.
