ENTENTE CORDIALE - TOURISM

France is Scotland’s third largest overseas market for inbound tourism, with over 120,000 visits made by French visitors during 2002.
During 2004, VisitScotland will be continuing to build awareness of Scotland as a top holiday destination for French visitors, while providing the information they need to make the most of their stay – how to get there, what to see and do, how best to experience local culture and meet the locals. The message to our French consumers through all VisitScotland’s activity is ‘Bienvenue chez nous’.
During this celebration year, VisitScotland has published a series of itineraries to help European visitors explore Scotland’s key attractions – castles and gardens, coasts and whisky, legends and heroes, islands and wildlife – and in France, an additional Franco-Scottish themed itinerary, which is going to be distributed to all the consumers requesting Scotland information, as well as being available through tour operators. These itineraries are being developed with the support of Historic Scotland, National Trust for Scotland and JAC Travel Scotland, the incoming tour operator.
While VisitScotland’s key marketing focus is on consumers in the Paris-Ile de France area, Scotland will also have a key presence in the Britain pavilion at the Foire Internationale de Bordeaux.
